Visiting the JIIPE Industrial Area in Gresik, Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Expects Increased Investment

Gresik - One of the working visits of Vice President K. H. Ma'ruf Amin is to review the Java Integrated and Industrial Port Estate (JIIPE) Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Manyar, Gresik, East Java. In addition to seeing the progress of the JIIPE Gresik SEZ development, the Vice President also reviewed the smelter factory located in the area. On this occasion, the Vice President expressed the hope for an increase in investment in the area.

"We hope that this SEZ will continue to strive to increase investment in this place," the Vice President said in a press statement to the media, Tuesday (07/02/2023).

Furthermore, the Vice President mentioned the existence of the Government Regulation in Lieu of Law (Perppu) Creating Jobs as one of the efforts to encourage investment, through ease of doing business and providing services.

"The government supports these investment efforts through the Creating Jobs Law, which is now the Creating Jobs Government Regulation, which accommodates various problems, including ease of doing business, as well as services and provision," said the Vice President.

"And also like the provision of a place, by making regulations, the Perppu becomes part of the effort to attract [investment]," he added.

Meanwhile, in the development of industry, the presence of the Freeport Smelter is part of the downstreaming. The Vice President is optimistic about the development of this smelter, which can continue to be developed.

"The development of the smelter is the implementation of downstreaming," said the Vice President.

"I am optimistic because the development continues and does not stop," he added.

Closing his press statement on the presence of a smelter that can absorb enough manpower, the Vice President asked the East Java Provincial Government to prepare competent human resources to be trained in supporting the development project.

"That is why, Mr. Vice Governor [East Java], I think you should prepare skilled manpower and carry out training," concluded the Vice President.

Accompanying the Vice President at this press conference were East Java Vice Governor Emil Elestianto Dardak, President Director of PT Berkah Kawasan Manyar Sejahtera (BKMS) Bambang Soetiono, President Director of PT AKR Corporindo Tbk Haryanto Adikoesoemo, and President Director of PT Freeport Indonesia Tony Wenas.
