On November 10, 2024, PT Hebang Biotechnology Indonesia, a subsidiary of China's Hebang Group, began construction of a chemical plant in the Java Integrated Industrial and Port Estate (JIIPE) Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Gresik, East Java. The groundbreaking ceremony marked the start of an investment aimed at supporting Indonesia's agricultural sector and global markets.
Hebang Group, a leading producer of chemicals such as soda ash, ammonium chloride, and other agricultural industry products, also specializes in specialty glass and carbon fiber products for both local and export needs. The plant will produce chemical materials with a capacity intended to strengthen Indonesia's chemical industry resilience.
